1 A brutal greeting from Colombia, there writes to them Ricardo Bedoya, The Director of the magazine SCUMZINE, how does it go quite in the band?

 

Hi Ricardo whats up? We're pretty much busy creating our new EP, and as always we have some setbacks in the process. But we keep on struggling and eventually it will be released. Most of us have other bands and projects going on or busy dayjobs, so the band doesn't always get the attention it needs.

2 - what can you speak to us about BOAL's new material?, title of the work?, how many topics it brings the new material?, which is the concept of the new front page? And that evolution will have the new work?

 

Our new EP will be titled 'Trinity Of Deception' and will contain three new songs and a cover song. Lyricwise it will deal with how humanity, religion or the media control your opinions and views in everyday life. Too many people don't think for themselves and believe eveything they are told. Too be honest I haven't thought about the art yet. As soon as I'm done recording my part I will focus on that. We were supposed to start recording 6 months ago, but due to some stuff in personal life that got delayed. But I seriously hope the EP will be done around summer. The new stuff will sound quite different. First of all the songs are a bit slower and we will have a new vocalist. The guttural voice on 'Infinite Deprevation' didn't fit to the music that well in my opinion, although Peter did a good job, so we go for more intelligible grunts this time.

 

 

3 how does it go to do the work of recording with GERARD BRAAKSMA?, which was the decision to record with him?

 

Gerard is an old friend who plays with our good friends in Coldblooded and we wanted a real drummer instead of a drummachine, so the choice was really easy to ask him to lay down the drumtracks. He is a real powerful and groovy drummer, so I hope it works out well.

4- How did you arrive to the rows of SEVARED RECORDS?, how do things go with the distribution of "INFINITE DEPRIVATION "?

 

I do designwork for Sevared for quite some years, so it was pretty obvious to ask Barrett if he was interested in releasing Boal on Sevared Records, even though we don't have the typical Sevared sound. To be honest I have no idea how sales go, but since Barrett was interested in releasing a new EP it must have done good enough.

 

5-Let's speak about " INFINITE DEPRIVATION ", how was it the process of recording, mixmed and masterización of the disc?, how was it the work with TYMFLYS STUDIO, and SOUNDLODGE STUDIO?

 

The recording was a hell to be honest. Since we did most of the recording ourselves in Philippus his Tymflys studio we had way to much time. When we were done recording and started listening we werent satisfied over some things and decided to start from scratch and record the whole damn thing again. After five songs or so we actually decided to change some things again. It was crazy and we decided that we just had to finish it and release it. Then we went to Jorg Uken of Soundlodge Studio who reamped the guitars and really did some magic on the mixing and mastering. There were some things we think we should have done different, but i'm pretty satisfied with the endresult.

   

6 - how did it it receive the extreme press and the fans?

 

As always some people like it and some people hate it and we're fine with that. But we got quite some nice reviews and lots of great reactions from people who liked the record, which is awesome ofcourse.

 

7 - what does represent the front page " INFINITE DEPRIVATION "?, how was it the process of creation of the cover art with MARCO HASMANN? And the one who was taking charge of the new design of the next CD? And which will be the subject matter of this new cover art?

 

The idea behind the cover is that there are two forces batteling each other, being it politics, religions or whatever and that their followers who don't choose the fight have to suffer for the choices of the establishment. We gave this concept to Marco Hasmann and I think it turned out fucking great. For the new cover I don't have an idea yet, but Marco is an option for sure to do the art again.

 

8 speak to us about the metal fets that have taken part? And with that bands have touched?

 

We haven't played live yet. We had some really nice offers to play but we didn't have a drummer at that time. I hope we can play out in the future.

 

 

9 speak to us about the scene of Holland?

 

The scene isn't as good as in the past when bands like Sinister, Asphyx, Pestilence, Gorefest, Polluted Inheritance and Burial to name a few made a big impression. But there are still some good bands around like Departed Souls, Coldblooded, Bullcreek, Massive Assault and Klaïton. There are good festivals and shows regularly, so I don't complain.

 

10 - tell us on the EP "DERANGED"?

 

The Deranged EP is actually a demo. Both of the songs appear on our debut, but the songs are a bit different. Especially the beginning of Deranged is completely different on both releases.

 

11 - Final comment? And future plans for 2017.

 

Right now we want to record the EP and then focus on a new full length. I don't want to put a date on when either is going to happen, but it will happen for sure! And hopefully we finally will do some live shows. Also we will record some stuff with our other band Miasma Of Guilt, which focus more on occult old school death metal. Hola Ricardo ¿qué pasa? Estamos bastante ocupados creando nuestro nuevo EP, y como siempre tenemos algunos contratiempos en el proceso. Pero seguimos luchando y finalmente será lanzado. La mayoría de nosotros tenemos otras bandas y proyectos en marcha o dayjobs ocupados, por lo que la banda no siempre recibe la atención que necesita.

 

2 - ¿qué puedes decirnos sobre el nuevo material de BOAL ?, título de la obra ?, ¿cuántos temas trae el nuevo material ?, ¿cuál es el concepto de la nueva portada? ¿Y esa evolución tendrá el nuevo trabajo?

 

Nuestro nuevo EP será titulado 'Trinity Of Deception' y contendrá tres canciones nuevas y una canción de portada. Lyricwise se ocupará de cómo la humanidad, la religión o los medios de comunicación controlan sus opiniones y puntos de vista en la vida cotidiana. Demasiadas personas no piensan por sí mismas y creen todo lo que se les dice. Demasiado honesto no he pensado en el arte todavía. Tan pronto como termine de grabar mi parte me concentraré en eso. Se suponía que empezaríamos a grabar hace 6 meses, pero debido a algunas cosas en la vida personal que se retrasaron. Pero espero seriamente que el EP se realice durante el verano. Las cosas nuevas sonarán muy diferentes. En primer lugar las canciones son un poco más lentas y tendremos un nuevo vocalista. La voz gutural de 'Infinita Deprevation' no encajaba con la música que bien en mi opinión, aunque Peter hizo un buen trabajo, así que vamos a grunhidos más inteligibles esta vez.

 

3 ¿Cómo va a hacer el trabajo de grabación con GERARD BRAAKSMA ?, que fue la decisión de grabar con él?

 

Gerard es un viejo amigo que juega con nuestros buenos amigos en Coldblooded y queríamos un verdadero baterista en lugar de una drummachine, así que la elección fue muy fácil pedirle que dejara las pistas de batería. Es un baterista potente y maravilloso, así que espero que funcione bien.

 

4- ¿Cómo llegaste a las filas de SEVARED RECORDS ?, ¿cómo van las cosas con la distribución de la " INFINITE DEPRIVATION "?

 

Hago diseño para Sevared por algunos años, así que era bastante obvio preguntarle a Barrett si estaba interesado en lanzar Boal en Sevared Records, aunque no tengamos el típico sonido Sevared. Para ser honesto, no tengo ni idea de cómo van las ventas, pero ya que Barrett estaba interesado en lanzar un nuevo EP, debe haber sido lo suficientemente bueno.

 

5-Hablemos de " INFINITE DEPRIVATION "?, ¿cómo fue el proceso de grabación, mixmed y masterización del disco?, ¿cómo fue el trabajo con TYMFLYS STUDIO y SOUNDLODGE STUDIO?

 

La grabación fue un infierno para ser honesto. Ya que hicimos la mayor parte de la grabación nosotros mismos en Philippus su estudio de Tymflys teníamos manera de mucho tiempo. Cuando terminamos de grabar y empezamos a escuchar no estábamos satisfechos con algunas cosas y decidimos empezar de cero y grabar toda la maldita cosa otra vez. Después de cinco canciones o así decidimos cambiar algunas cosas de nuevo. Fue una locura y decidimos que teníamos que terminarlo y soltarlo. Luego fuimos a Jorg Uken de Soundlodge Studio que reamplificó las guitarras y realmente hizo algo de magia en la mezcla y masterización. Había algunas cosas que pensamos que deberíamos haber hecho diferente, pero estoy bastante satisfecho con el resultado final.

 

6 - ¿Cómo recibió la prensa extrema y los fans?

 

Como siempre algunas personas les gusta y algunas personas lo odian y estamos bien con eso. Pero nos dieron bastante algunas buenas críticas y un montón de grandes reacciones de personas que les gustó el registro, que es increíble ofcourse.

 

7 - ¿Qué representa la primera página de "INFINITE DEPRIVATION" ?, ¿cómo fue el proceso de creación de la portada con MARCO HASMANN? ¿Y el que se estaba encargando del nuevo diseño del próximo CD? ¿Y cuál será el tema de esta nueva portada?

 

La idea detrás de la portada es que hay dos fuerzas batteling entre sí, ya sea política, religiones o lo que sea y que sus seguidores que no eligen la lucha tienen que sufrir por las elecciones del establecimiento. Le dimos este concepto a Marco Hasmann y creo que resultó estupendo. Para la nueva portada todavía no tengo una idea, pero Marco es una opción para hacer el arte de nuevo.

 

8 ¿Nos habla de los fustes de metal que han participado? Y con que las bandas han tocado?

 

Todavía no hemos tocado en vivo. Tuvimos algunas ofertas muy bonitas para jugar, pero no teníamos un baterista en ese momento. Espero que podamos jugar en el futuro.

 

9 ¿Nos habla de la escena de Holanda?

 

La escena no es tan buena como en el pasado cuando bandas como Sinister, Asphyx, Pestilence, Gorefest, Polluted Inheritance y  Burialpara nombrar algunos hicieron una gran impresión. Pero todavía hay algunas buenas bandas como Almas Departed, Coldblooded, Bullcreek, Massive Assault y Klaïton. Hay buenos festivales y espectáculos regularmente, así que no me quejo.

 

10 - Cuéntanos en el EP "DERANGED"?

 

El EP Deranged es en realidad una demo. Ambas canciones aparecen en nuestro debut, pero las canciones son un poco diferentes. Especialmente el principio de Deranged es completamente diferente en ambas versiones.

 

11 - ¿Comentario final? Y los planes futuros para 2017.

 

En este momento queremos grabar el EP y enfocarnos en una nueva versión completa. No quiero poner una fecha en el momento en que va a suceder, pero que va a suceder con seguridad! Y espero que finalmente haremos algunos shows en vivo. También vamos a grabar algunas cosas con nuestro otro grupo Miasma Of Guilt, que se centran más en el death metal occult old school.
