Here, Ricardo Bedoya of SCUMZINE MAGAZINE magazine, How are things going in the band?

 

Hi ! It’s Jordy (bass and vocals) and Sylvain (guitar) from Exocrine ¡

We’re back from an awesome Japan tour with Obscura and Archspire and we preparing the release of our next album ¡

 

1 - Tell us a little about the new work "MOLTEN GIANT"

 

Sylvain :

It’s our third album, after the Ascension’s promotional tour we had a line-up changement with the Michaël arrival at drums. During his song learning I decided to compose, I closed myself in my home studio and 4 mounth later the new monster is born ¡

2 - Tell us about the recording and mix of the new CD "MOLTEN GIANT"

 

Jordy :

Every tracks are recorded at Sylvain’s studio except the drums recorded at Bud Studio with Mathieu Pascal from GOROD. We used the most natural method  posible without  ton of editings and cheatings, we’ve tested some tracks on stage before the validation because we want a balance between live performance and album.

After the recording we send the tracks to our friend HK from VAMACARA STUDIO (Dagoba, Loudblast…) for the mix and mastering. We are very proud to have worked with Mathieu and HK and we are very pleased with the outcome ¡

 

3 - Why the theme of the band KAIJU MOVIES? And how do you perform the composition in EXOCRINE?

 

Sylvain :

Every albums of Exocrine are different, the first talk about occultism, the second about a space exodus, for the third we want a more massive story, more epic so what is more huge and cool than a big monster crushing the earth ¡?

During all the writing process, I put on my TV all my collection of Kaiju movies (Mothra, the Godzillas, Invasion Planet X and more). The skeleton of the album is written on paper before the first recording sesion a little like classical music, nothing is random with our songs.

 

4 - How long did it take to get the contract with UNIQUE LEADER RECORDS?

 

Jordy :

Eric Lindmark has listened the ASCENSION album and talk with our manager, we were honored by the fast proposition, we like all his work and obviously we accepted his proposition. It’s a chance to us to be on the bigest label of the genre.

5 - Tell us about the ARTWORK of BASTIEN JEZ ARTWORK, what is your opinion about the works? And how was the process of creating "MOLTEN GIANT"?

 

Sylvain :

Bastien is a friend, we start to work with him since ASCENSION and for MOLTEN GIANT it was obvious for us to continue with him, it’s a young genious.

We describe the album’s concept and instantly he draws the first sketch, after we talk about the color range and one week later we have the complete artwork ¡

 

 

6 - How were things with the distribution of the press with the previous works "UNREAL EXISTENSE" and "ASCENSION"?

 

Jordy :

Only few webzine said something about us, no articles on the written press, it’s very difficult in our country to have a good exposition for Technical Death Metal, it’s going to be better with Unique Leader.

7 - What has been the response of the fans and the extreme press in front of the video lyric video "HAYATO"?

 

Sylvain :

We took some risks using Hayato as the first teasing song, is not the most demonstrative and brutal track of Molten Giant but we are very happy, we have lots a good feedbacks from peoples. We are waiting the release for the true feedbacks.

 

 

8 What are the differences between the first album "UNREAL EXISTENSE" AND "ASCENSION" related to music and lyrics?

 

Jordy :

We are still in SciFi matters but we evolve with years and tours. Tempos are faster, maybe a less progressive with Molten Giant. We were criticized for the sound so we worked on it with better stuff for exemple and more time for thinking.

 

9 - Tell us about the French scene?

 

Sylvain :

We are proud to have band like Gojira, Benigthed and of course our brothers from Gorod but in reality the french’s Technical Death Metal scene is like a desert. Anyway the Metal genre in France has Little exposition, is not a Metal country.

 

10 - What is an EXOCRINE concert like?

 

Four monkeys playing a too fast, too agressive/technical/silly music and too much songs for drunken people.

 

11 - What are the plans for the future of EXOCRINE?

 

We want to play in different country, meet lot of people and bands. Actually we are preparing the release with a clip and studio report to promote this new album. This year had been busy, we played with great bands like Obscura, Archspire, The Faceless, Gorod and Obituary. We preparing an european tour for the end of 2018.

 

 

12 - Do you have a final comment or something you want to say?

 

We love South America, we want to play and meet peoples on a massive tour in yours awesome countries ¡  Thank you for this interview ¡

La agrupación de BURDEOS - FRANCIA, formada en 2013 expresando un potente Progresivo DEATH METAL lleno de destreza y técnica, descargados atmósferas brutales y técnicas; EXOCRINE es una banda que será famosa por su habilidad y maestría al desempeñar un gran trabajo. “Molten Giant”, influenciado en la parte de las líricas en las películas de monstruos gigantescos; así que bajo el sello UNIQUE LEADER RECORDS ingresan a la RECORDS más brutal del mundo del DEATH METAL

 

Aquí, Ricardo Bedoya de la revista SCUMZINE MAGAZINE, ¿Cómo van las cosas en la banda?

 

Hola ! Aquí Jordy (bajo y voz) y Sylvain (guitarra) de Exocrine ¡

Volvimos de una increíble gira por Japón con OBSCURA y ARCHSPIRE y preparamos el lanzamiento de nuestro próximo álbum ¡

 

1 - Cuéntanos un poco sobre el nuevo trabajo "MOLTEN GIANT"

 

Sylvain:

Es nuestro tercer álbum, después de la gira promocional de Ascension tuvimos un cambio de formación con la llegada de Michaël a la batería. Durante su aprendizaje de la canción, decidí componer, me encerré en el estudio de mi casa y 4 meses después nació el nuevo monstruo ¡

 

2 - Cuéntanos sobre la grabación y la mezcla del nuevo CD "MOLTEN GIANT"

 

Jordy:

Todas las pistas se graban en el estudio de Sylvain, excepto los tambores grabados en Bud Studio con Mathieu Pascal de GOROD. Usamos el método más natural posible sin toneladas de ediciones y trampas, probamos algunas pistas en el escenario antes de la validación porque queremos un equilibrio entre la actuación en vivo y el álbum.

Después de la grabación, enviamos las pistas a nuestro amigo HK de VAMACARA STUDIO (Dagoba, Loudblast ...) para la mezcla y masterización. Estamos muy orgullosos de haber trabajado con MATHIEU y HK y estamos muy contentos con el resultado ¡

3 - ¿Por qué el tema de la banda KAIJU MOVIES? ¿Y cómo se realiza la composición en EXOCRINE?

 

Sylvain:

Todos los álbumes de Exocrine son diferentes, la primera habla sobre ocultismo, la segunda sobre un éxodo espacial, para el tercero queremos una historia más masiva, más épica, ¿qué es más grande y frío que un gran monstruo aplastando la tierra?

Durante todo el proceso de escritura, puse en mi televisor toda mi colección de películas de Kaiju (Mothra, Godzillas, Invasion Planet X y más). El esqueleto del álbum está escrito en papel antes de la primera sesión de grabación, un poco como la música clásica, nada es al azar con nuestras canciones.

 

4 - ¿Cuánto tiempo tardó en obtener el contrato con UNIQUE LEADER RECORDS?

 

Jordy:

Eric Lindmark ha escuchado el álbum de ASCENSION y ha hablado con nuestro gerente, nos sentimos honrados con la proposición rápida, nos gusta todo su trabajo y obviamente aceptamos su proposición. Es una oportunidad para nosotros estar en la etiqueta más grande del género.

 

5 - Cuéntanos sobre las ILUSTRACIONES de BASTIEN JEZ ARTWORK, ¿cuál es tu opinión sobre las obras? ¿Y cómo fue el proceso de creación de "MOLTEN GIANT"?

 

Sylvain:

Bastien es un amigo, comenzamos a trabajar con él desde la Ascensión y para Molten Giant fue obvio para nosotros continuar con él, es un joven genio.

Describimos el concepto del álbum y al instante dibuja el primer boceto, después de hablar de la gama de colores y una semana más tarde tenemos el trabajo completo ¡

 

 

6 - ¿Cómo fueron las cosas con la distribución de la prensa con los trabajos anteriores "UNREAL EXISTENSE" y "ASCENSION"?

 

Jordy:

Solo algunos webzines dijeron algo sobre nosotros, no hay artículos en la prensa escrita, es muy difícil en nuestro país tener una buena exposición para Technical Death Metal, será mejor con Unique Leader.

 

7 - ¿Cuál ha sido la respuesta de los fanáticos y la prensa extrema frente al video de la letra del video "HAYATO"?

 

Sylvain:

Nos tomamos algunos riesgos al usar “HAYATO” como la primera canción de burlas, no es la canción más demostrativa y brutal de MOLTEN GIANT, pero estamos muy contentos, tenemos muchas reacciones de los pueblos. Estamos esperando el lanzamiento de las verdaderas retroalimentaciones.

 

 

8 ¿Cuáles son las diferencias entre el primer álbum "UNREAL EXISTENSE" Y "ASCENSION" relacionado con la música y la letra?

 

Jordy:

Todavía estamos en asuntos de SciFi pero evolucionamos con años y giras. Los tempos son más rápidos, tal vez menos progresivos con MOLTEN GIANT. Fuimos criticados por el sonido, así que trabajamos en ello con mejores cosas, por ejemplo, y más tiempo para pensar.

 

9 - Cuéntanos sobre la escena francesa?

 

Sylvain:

Estamos orgullosos de tener bandas como GOJIRA, BENIGTHED y, por supuesto, nuestros hermanos de GOROD, pero en realidad la escena técnica del death metal francés es como un desierto. De todos modos, el género Metal en Francia tiene poca exposición, no es un país Metal.

 

10 - ¿Cómo es un concierto de EXOCRINE?

 

Cuatro monos tocando una música demasiado rápida, demasiado agresiva / técnica / tonta y demasiadas canciones para gente borracha.

 

11 - ¿Cuáles son los planes para el futuro de EXOCRINE?

 

Queremos tocar en un país diferente, conocer mucha gente y bandas. De hecho, estamos preparando el lanzamiento con un clip y un informe de estudio para promocionar este nuevo álbum. Este año había estado ocupado, tocamos con grandes bandas como Obscura, ARCHSPIRE, THE FACELESS, GOROD Y OBITUARY. Estamos preparando una gira europea para finales de 2018.

 

12 - ¿Tienes un comentario final o algo que quieras decir?

 

Amamos Sudamérica, queremos tocar y conocer gente en un tour masivo en tus impresionantes países ¡Gracias por esta entrevista!
