A brutal greeting from Colombia, how is everything in the band?

Hello, we also greet Colombia. We are abolutely allright, we have meetings two ot three times in a week to do the music or just to sit, smoke a joint and drink wine.

1hiiii ahoj taky te moc zdravime do kolombie. u nas je vsechno v nejvetsim poradku. potkavame se dvakrat nekdy i trikrat do tydne aby jsme delali muziku nebo jen tak sedime kourime joint a pijem  vino.

1- Tell us about PURULENT SPERMCANAL, what is the biggest influence of the band? (books, gore movies, series B, some case of illness)

​

Purulent arised as a project in 1994 with name „Pharmacist“. After a year of thrumming and couple of speeches amongst us we decided to change the name to „Purulent spermcanal“ and then period of fully-fledged band began. I attach the biography with the details.

We were influenced mostly by the world of horror and porn movies. We also wanted to become different from other bands and I think we did it in 1996 with debut „Puaka balava“. A lot of our friends didn‘t get what style it is at all, but we enjoyed to schock the metal scene which was full of black, speed and death metal genre only. It is obvious that at that time we had our heads full of  „Impetigo“ which totally got us. At that time, in Czech, bands as „Pathologist“, „Malignant tumour“, „Ingrowing“ and other raised, but we were keeping our line and trying to be always somewhere else than the others.

After some time we have chosen a cannibalism as our main theme and we keep it until now.

1. purulent vznikl jako project v roce 1994 pod nazvem pharmacist po roce brnkani a par rozhovorech mezi sebou jsme pharmacist prejmenovali na purulent spermcanal a zacala etapa plnohodnotne kapely . prikladam biografii kde jsou uvedeny detaily)). Nejvetsi vliv na nasi kapelu v te dobe mel asi svet hororovych a porno filmu))) taky jsme se asi chteli odlisit hrat neco opravdu zvrhleho a to se myslim v 96 roce s debutem puaka balava podarilo). spoustu nasich pratel v te dobe vubec nepochopili co to je za styl, nas to velmi bavilo sokovat nasi metalovou scenu tehdy plnou blacku speed metalu a death metalu. je jasne ze uz v te dobe jsme meli plnou hlavu Impetiga ktere nas totalne dostalo. V te dobe uz i u nas hrali pecky jako pathologist malignant tumour ingowing a jine ale my jsme si jeli to svoje)) a byt pokazde nekde trosku jinde)))). po nejakem case jsme se zacali drzet tematiky canibalizmu a toho se drzime dodnes.

2- Tell us about “REMAINS OF HUMAN BODY”

​

This LP was released after 17 years of existence as a full album. It was composed still in four men and the plan was tomake a record in old school style as our music belongss there, I think. But couple of days before recording, our vocalist left the band so in haste I had to také the microphone.

Now, when listening the „Remains of human body“ with a distance, I realize that many things could be done in a different way, but this is probably matter of all musicians. But we stand by that record an I think that it is a good album with an agressive and euphonic sound, good for both listening and dance :-)

3- How was the process of recording and mixing the CD?  

​

Recording was done in a studio owned by our friend, so in home atmosphere. We always approach to recording the same way as to the holidays and we enjoy it  very much. Musically we are used to be prepared very well so that we can finish recording in shortest possible period, lenghtening it is just a waste of time. Mastering was done in the same studio as well. We are happy and satisfied with the backgroung, sound, approach and mood there, so if nothing will change, next time we would like to record there again.

nahravani probihalo ve studiu naseho znameho tedy v domacim prostredi. vzdy pri nahravani to bereme jako svatek a uzivame si to se vsim vsudy. hudebne byvame pripraveni tak aby jsme to meli nahrane v co nejkratsim case)) nema smysl to protahovat,hiii mix a mastering probihal take tam. jsme tam spokojeni a pokud se nic nezmeni priste pujdem nahravat zase na stejne místo

4- What is the theme of the band? And how was the musical composition worked?

​

Well, this question was already partially answered – our theme is a cannibalism (grandly, we really don‘t eat human :-)). We just want us and fans to have fun. With drummer Kokes, since the very beginning, we had this very concrete and clear idea and that‘s why we drag it together for 25 years and the rest of the band was always rotating.

Nowadays we are in three persons – Puaka guitar and vocals, Kubis on bass and Kokes behind the drums. Composition is mostly done spontaneously, on the sessions where we smoke weed, tell the jokes and jam. When we hear anything interesting, we come back to it and everyone is trying to improve it‘s part...

5- Tell us about “PUAKA BALAVA”, “LEGALIZE FOR CANNIBALISM”, “WE PITY WE DIDINT KILL YUO ALL” & “HAVE THE MUNCHIES”, how was the distribution?

It is an old era and at that time we were under wings of „Leviathan prod.“. All those albums were produced by and released by them.

But first three albums will be re-issued by „Bizzare leprous prod.“

„Have the munchies“ album was an experiment which we had to release under different band name because it has nothing to do with the initial idea...

6- How do you build the cover art of each job?

​

Our covers are work of our long-time court painter „Petr Karpjak“ who absolutelly understandood our point from the first moment. He has got his own style and the family providing us the accompaniment for the whole time is mostly his creation. He just got the instruction of the scene and what should be played out there and then it was just on him. Everytime when I received any new picture from him I knew immediatelly that it is absolutely perfect.

We already got some offer from some proffesional illustrators and studios, but as I sad, Petr‘s family is a tradition and inseparably belongs to us.

)))) nase prebaly na cdeckach je prace naseho dlouholeteho dvorniho malire Petra Karpjaka ktery presne pochopil o co nam jde. ma svuj styl a rodinka ktera nas provazi po celou dobu je hlavne jeho vytvor. dostane jen instrukce co by se na motivu melo odehravat a pak uz je to jen na nem. pokazde kdyz mi posle obrazek vim ze je to ten pravy. dostali jsme uz i nabidky od profi ilustratoru ale jak rikam styl a rodinka purulentiku patri k nam)

7- Why do they do so many Split? How do they work to distribute them? And what is the favorite Split? And because?

​

We have a couple of splits from earlier times. I don‘t think we have a lots of it, more likely none. But correct me if I‘m wrong…

We are very happy about the split with our brothers „Pullmonary fibrosis“ and  currently we are preparing for recording a split with „Carnal diafragma“, „Cannibe“ and „Tu carne“. So it may look that there will be lots of splits but all these are already planned for quite a longe time.

I think that split records has some collector‘s value and are a memories for the bands attended. We do it mostly for friendship and stengthening the big gore family.
