Hi INFERI, I'm Ricardo Bedoya, director of the SCUMZINE MAG web magazine, how are things going in the band? And how is the BLACK CROWN INIFITIATE AND WARFORGED tour going?
Things are busier than ever before. Writing, touring, filming videos, and much more. We are home now, but it was great! We played in a lot of places that were new to me. Also, BCI and Warforged are superb dudes to tour with!
How was the band formed? What is the story?
The only remaining member from the original lineup is Malcolm, so I’m not sure what the story of the formation is, except that the name before Inferi was Death Looks Promising. They had all been playing together under different band names for several years throughout high school and afterwards before settling on the name Inferi.
How do you define INFERI music?
Melodic epic brutality
Tell us about “THE END OF AN ERA / REBIRTH”?
Malcolm was never happy with how The End of an Era turned out. Musically it was killer, but the production on it was lacking a lot. He kept pushing us to redo the album, so we finally all agreed to do it, and we busted it out in record time! It took about a month from the time we started tracking to when we received the final master.
What is the fans response about and the extreme press “THE END OF AN ERA / REBIRTH”?
For the most part, it was well received. Some people were blown away by it, but I did see a few negative comments too. It didn’t take off as much as Revenant, but since it wasn’t new material, we weren’t surprised.
What can you tell us about “REVENANT”? Tell us about the CD recording and mixing process?
We flew Jack up from Houston to record the drums. I tracked him in this rehearsal facility I used to own in Murfreesboro, Tennessee. He finished recording in maybe 3 days, and then we spent a while finishing the rest of the album. We all recorded our own parts at our own homes, and then I mixed it. The process took maybe 5 or 6 months.
How were things for sale with CD “THE PATH OF APOTHEOSIS” and “DIVINITY IN WAR”?
I think Divinity in War was limited to 100 CDs, which were sold out a long long time ago. The Path of Apotheosis sold great, and continues to do so.
How do I do the composition in INFERI? Who are the main composers in INFERI?
And what is the theme of the band?
Malcolm has always been the main composer, and I have written quite a lot of the material too. Now with this new lineup, it is going to be more of a group effort for the next album. Themes vary per album, but usually focused around epic battles and fantasy type stuff.
Tell us about the official video "CONDEMNED ASSAILANT" And how was the production of this video?
These were mostly live shots taken in Philadelphia from our tour with Obscura, and I believe the rest were from a show we did with Alterbeast.

How is the ARTISAN ERA distribution going?
Very well! Our distributor has been shipping to stores all around the world, and we are working on an online store in Europe as well.
What is an INFERI concert like?
We all try to be as animated as we can, but Stevie takes the cake on that! It’s very intense for us musicians, ha!
What do you know about the Colombian scene?
Our old drummer Jack also used to play with Vital Remains, and he called me when he returned from a South American tour several years back to tell me about it. He said that it was absolutely nuts down there! Colombia in particular was extremely hospitable and welcoming. We would love to come play down there.

Las cosas están más ocupadas que nunca. Escribir, recorrer, filmar videos y mucho más. Estamos en casa ahora, ¡pero fue genial! Tocamos en muchos lugares que eran nuevos para mí. Además, ¡BCI y Warforged son tipos excelentes para viajar!
¿Cómo se formó la banda? ¿Cuál es la historia?
El único miembro restante de la alineación original es Malcolm, así que no estoy seguro de cuál es la historia de la formación, excepto que el nombre antes de Inferi era Death Looks Promising. Todos habían estado tocando juntos bajo diferentes nombres de bandas durante varios años en la escuela secundaria y luego antes de decidirse por el nombre Inferi.

Malcolm nunca estuvo contento con cómo resultó The End of an Era. Musicalmente fue asesino, pero faltaba mucho en la producción. Siguió presionándonos para rehacer el álbum, así que finalmente todos acordamos hacerlo, ¡y lo destruimos en un tiempo récord! Tomó aproximadamente un mes desde el momento en que comenzamos a rastrear hasta que recibimos el master final.
¿Cuál es la respuesta de los fanáticos y la prensa extrema "“THE END OF AN ERA / REBIRTH"?
En su mayor parte, fue bien recibido. Algunas personas quedaron impresionadas, pero también vi algunos comentarios negativos. No despegó tanto como Revenant, pero como no era material nuevo, no nos sorprendió.
¿Qué nos puede decir sobre "REVENANT"? ¿Cuéntanos sobre el proceso de grabación y mezcla de CD?
Volamos a Jack desde Houston para grabar la batería. Lo rastreé en esta instalación de ensayo que solía tener en Murfreesboro, Tennessee. Terminó de grabar en unos 3 días, y luego pasamos un tiempo terminando el resto del álbum. Todos grabamos nuestras propias partes en nuestras propias casas, y luego las mezclé. El proceso llevó unos 5 o 6 meses.
¿Cómo fueron las cosas a la venta con el CD "THE PATH OF APOTHEOSIS" y "DIVINITY IN WAR"?
Creo que Divinity in War se limitó a 100 CD, que se agotaron hace mucho tiempo. El camino de la apoteosis se vendió muy bien, y continúa haciéndolo.

Estas fueron principalmente tomas en vivo tomadas en Filadelfia de nuestra gira con Obscura, y creo que el resto fueron de un espectáculo que hicimos con Alterbeast.

Nuestro viejo baterista Jack también solía tocar con Vital Remains, y me llamó cuando regresó de una gira sudamericana hace varios años para contarme al respecto. ¡Dijo que allí estaba absolutamente loco! Colombia en particular fue extremadamente hospitalaria y acogedora. Nos encantaría venir a tocar allí.
