Hello A brutal greeting from Colombia, my name is Ricardo Bedoya of the online magazine & website SCUMZINE MAGAZINE, how is everything in the band? And do you have plans to promote the band's first job?
Hey Ricardo! We’re doing great thanks! Yeah right now we are a couple weeks away from the official album release (October 11th). We just released this week the second single off the album and the feedback is awesome so far! We’re pretty excited about our album release!
1 - Tell us about the new CD “NECROTICGOREBEAST”
It’s a 10 tracks, 30 minutes album of pure, relentless aggression. Combining slam and brutal death metal influences, the main objective with the album was to redefine the concept of brutality, pure and simple. To take every influences that drove us to fall in love with this genre and try to push it even further by combining brutality, technically and of course over the top song titles!
2- How was the composition process of “NECROTICGOREBEAST”? How much time did you spend writing and recording the album? And how was the recording and mixing process with Miguel Tereso? And the experience of recording in DEMIGOD RECORDS?
The composition process couldn’t have gone any smoother! Right after our demo release in March 2018 and signing subsequently with Comatose Music, we went straight to writing the album. It took us roughly 6 months to write the whole thing and do the preproduction. We hit the studio in March 2019 and all the recording was done by May. For the mixing process, we wanted to do business with the best in the genre. For anyone who’s listened to the work of Miguel Tereso with Analepsy, Organectomy and Rendered Helpless, they know that this guy is on another level. We contacted Miguel early 2019 to see his availability. When all was locked in for a date, we sent everything to Miguel right after the recording/editing and we let him do his magic!
3 Tell us about the illustration of ANDREAS CHRISTANETOFF, what is your opinion about cover art ?, and how was the creation process?
Just like the mixing of the album, we wanted to do business with the best in the genre. We got so many recommendations about Andreas from Armaada Art and just by checking some of his art, it was a no brainer for us to do business with him. When we contacted him, we pitched a couple of ideas for a draft. No joke, it took him maybe 10 minutes to come up with a rough sketch of the cover art based on our common ideas. When you do business with an artist like Andreas, you give him all the freedom to draw the art the way he feels it. So we let him go without even asking a single question and when we saw the final results, our jaws all dropped! Seriously, this guy is amazing.
4 How did you get to the ranks of COMATOSE MUSIC RECORDS? And why work with this seal?
Right after our demo release in march 2018, our YouTube video got blocked on all social media platforms for some pretty obvious reasons. We knew at that moment that to keep our name rolling we needed to capitalize on the short buzz that our demo was getting before another band release takes the spot. So we got this sort of crazy idea to contact labels to get signed to release an album that didn’t even existed at that time with only a 2 songs demo released 4 days earlier. When we saw a reply from COMATOSE MUSIC, it was one of the most exciting moment in our career for sure! COMATOSE MUSIC has been the best support for us hands down and to join the likes of Kraanium, Devangelic, Dehumanized, Dysentery and a ton more, we feel right at home in the Comatose family.
5 Tell us about the “AUTOEROTIC RECTAL PROLAPSE” video, who was the director of this video? And how was the process of creating and editing the video?
With our others bands, we got the opportunity to work with Ismael Mossadeq on different occasions. The guy is hands down one of the most talented and sweetest dudes ever. Ismael has been doing a lot of videos for Beyond Creation too and they are all visually stunning. We played in Montreal last August with Pathology and asked Ismael if he wanted to do a live clip for our song AUTOEROTIC RECTAL PROLAPSE and he said yes of course!
6 Where did the name of the band NECROTICGOREBEAST come from? What is the meaning? And why the title for the album?
Basically, we wanted to put the most brutal band name! The kind of name that you know just by reading it that’s it gonna be brutal as hell. So we wrote a bunch of words and tried different combinations and when we came up with NECROTICGOREBEAST, we were all smiles knowing that it was the one. We chose to go with a self-titled record because we didn’t really wanna pick a song title off the album as a title and we couldn’t agree on a different one.
7 Tell us about the 2018 NECROTICGOREBEAST Demo, how did the extreme press and fans receive it?
This one was crazy because we builded up our social media platforms for a whole year prior to the demo release with basically only a name, a logo and a cover art. It was funny, because even when we were playing shows with our other bands, people were coming up to us saying “I have no idea why, but I keep hearing about your band NecroticGoreBeast”. We knew that the hype was there and we needed to hit an homerun with our demo to justify it. When the demo was released, we got awesome support from the slam and death metal community and that’s basically what drove us directly into the writing process of our first album.
8 How is the mussical composition?
The demo was mainly written by Alex, our bassist. The album process was a bit more involving with the contribution of every band members. The basic songs structures were mostly written by Alex, Mike reviewed every riffs to make all the adjustments necessary (aka make them better), afterward JP wrote every drum parts and finally we put the lyrics on every songs with John and Alex. Like many bands these days, we work remotely.
9 What is a concert like, NECROTICGOREBEAST?
For the few concerts that we’ve played so far, the response has been nothing short of amazing! Our songs are brutal, but with a lot of catchy slam riffs in them so it’s easy for someone who’s never listenend to our songs to follow the groove live and get in the pit!
10 Which artists do I invite in this musical work of NECROTIC GOREBEAST?
We are so stoked to have features on our album from Diogo Santana (ANALEPSY), Jack Christensen (KRAANIUM) and Alex-Antoine Chamberland (SOILED BY BLOOD). We knew from start that we wanted awesome features on our album and these guys were our top targets. When we asked them if they were interessed in doing a feature and the answer was a big YES, it was Christmas before time for us! These guys are inspirations to us and we can’t thank them enough for their time and availability.
11 Tell us about the scene of Canada and QUEBEC?
We are very fortunate to have an amazing metal scene in Canada and especially here in Quebec. We have a lot of international tours visiting us and we also have been fortunate for so many years to have the way paved by amazing Quebec metal bands like GORGUTS, BENEATH THE MASSACRE, BEYOND CREATION, CRYPTOPSY, KATAKLYSM, DESPISED ICON and a ton more. We also have a very healthy local scene with a lot of well organized groups working together and giving a lot of opportunities to local bands to perfom on bigger shows.

1 - Cuéntanos sobre el nuevo CD "NECROTICGOREBEAST"
Es un álbum de 10 pistas y 30 minutos de agresión pura e implacable. Combinando influencias de slam y brutal death metal, el objetivo principal del álbum era redefinir el concepto de brutalidad, puro y simple. ¡Tomar todas las influencias que nos llevaron a enamorarnos de este género y tratar de impulsarlo aún más combinando brutalidad, técnicamente y, por supuesto, sobre los mejores títulos de canciones!
2- ¿Cómo fue el proceso de composición de “NECROTICGOREBEAST”?, ¿Cuánto tiempo dedicaste a la escritura y grabación del álbum? Y ¿Cómo fue el proceso de grabación y mezcla con Miguel Tereso? Y ¿La experiencia de grabar en DEMIGOD RECORDS?
¡El proceso de composición no podría haber sido más sencillo! Justo después de nuestro lanzamiento de demostración en marzo de 2018 y luego de firmar con Comatose Music, fuimos directamente a escribir el álbum. Nos llevó aproximadamente 6 meses escribir todo y hacer la preproducción. Llegamos al estudio en marzo de 2019 y toda la grabación se realizó en mayo. Para el proceso de mezcla, queríamos hacer negocios con los mejores del género. Para cualquiera que haya escuchado el trabajo de Miguel Tereso con ANALEPSY, ORGANECTOMY y RENDERED HELPLESS, saben que este tipo está en otro nivel. Contactamos a Miguel a principios de 2019 para ver su disponibilidad. Cuando todo estuvo encerrado en una cita, ¡le enviamos todo a Miguel justo después de la grabación / edición y lo dejamos hacer su magia!
3 Cuéntanos sobre la ilustración de ANDREAS CHRISTANETOFF, ¿Cuál es tu opinión sobre el cover art?, y ¿cómo fue el proceso de creación?
Al igual que la mezcla del álbum, queríamos hacer negocios con los mejores del género. Obtuvimos tantas recomendaciones sobre Andreas de Armaada Art y solo al ver algunas de sus obras de arte, fue una obviedad para nosotros hacer negocios con él. Cuando lo contactamos, presentamos un par de ideas para un borrador. No es broma, le llevó unos 10 minutos elaborar un boceto de la portada basado en nuestras ideas comunes. Cuando haces negocios con un artista como Andreas, le das toda la libertad para dibujar el arte como él lo siente. Así que lo dejamos ir sin siquiera hacer una sola pregunta y cuando vimos los resultados finales, ¡nos quedamos boquiabiertos! En serio, este chico es increíble.
4 ¿Cómo llegaste a las filas de COMATOSE MUSIC RECORDS?, Y ¿por qué trabajar con este sello?
Justo después de nuestro lanzamiento de demostración en marzo de 2018, nuestro video de YouTube se bloqueó en todas las plataformas de redes sociales por algunas razones bastante obvias. Sabíamos en ese momento que para mantener nuestro nombre en marcha, necesitábamos capitalizar el breve zumbido que recibía nuestra demo antes de que otro lanzamiento de la banda tomara el lugar. Así que tuvimos este tipo de idea loca de contactar a las discográficas para firmar para lanzar un álbum que ni siquiera existía en ese momento con solo una demo de 2 canciones lanzada 4 días antes. Cuando vimos una respuesta de COMATOSE MUSIC, ¡sin duda fue uno de los momentos más emocionantes de nuestra carrera! COMATOSE MUSIC ha sido el mejor apoyo para nosotros y para unirnos a KRAANIUM, DEVANGELIC, DEHUMANIZED, DYSENTERY y un montón más, nos sentimos como en casa en la familia Comatose.
5 Háblanos del video “AUTOEROTIC RECTAL PROLAPSE”, ¿Quién fue el director de este video? Y ¿Cómo fue el proceso de creación y edición del video?
Con nuestras otras bandas, tuvimos la oportunidad de trabajar con Ismael Mossadeq en diferentes ocasiones. El tipo es sin duda uno de los tipos más talentosos y dulces de la historia. Ismael también ha estado haciendo muchos videos para Beyond Creation y todos son visualmente impresionantes. Tocamos en Montreal en agosto pasado con Patología y le preguntamos a Ismael si quería hacer un clip en vivo para nuestra canción AUTOEROTIC RECTAL PROLAPSE y dijo que sí, por supuesto.
6 De dónde salió el nombre de la banda NECROTIC GOREBEAST?, ¿Cuál es el significado? Y ¿Por qué el título para el álbum?
Básicamente, ¡queríamos poner el nombre de la banda más brutal! El tipo de nombre que conoces con solo leerlo será brutal como el infierno. Así que escribimos un montón de palabras e intentamos diferentes combinaciones y cuando se nos ocurrió NECROTICGOREBEAST, todos nos sonreímos sabiendo que era la indicada. Elegimos ir con un disco homónimo porque realmente no queríamos elegir el título de una canción del álbum como título y no podíamos acordar una diferente.
7 Háblanos del Demo 2018 NECROTICGOREBEAST, ¿Cómo lo recibió la prensa extrema y los fans?
Esta fue una locura porque creamos nuestras plataformas de redes sociales durante todo un año antes del lanzamiento de la demostración con básicamente solo un nombre, un logotipo y una portada. Fue divertido, porque incluso cuando estábamos tocando shows con nuestras otras bandas, la gente se acercaba a nosotros diciendo "No tengo idea de por qué, pero sigo escuchando sobre tu banda NECROTICGOREBEAST". Sabíamos que el bombo estaba ahí y necesitábamos pegar un cuadrangular con nuestra demo para justificarlo. Cuando se lanzó la demo, obtuvimos un apoyo increíble de la comunidad de slam y death metal y eso es básicamente lo que nos llevó directamente al proceso de escritura de nuestro primer álbum.
8 ¿Cómo es la composición musical?
La demo fue escrita principalmente por Alex, nuestro bajista. El proceso del álbum fue un poco más envolvente con la contribución de todos los miembros de la banda. Las estructuras básicas de las canciones fueron escritas principalmente por Alex, Mike revisó todos los riffs para hacer todos los ajustes necesarios (también conocidos como mejorarlos), luego JP escribió todas las partes de batería y finalmente pusimos las letras de cada canción con John y Alex. Como muchas bandas en estos días, trabajamos de forma remota.
9 ¿Cómo es un concierto de NECROTICGOREBEAST?
Para los pocos conciertos que hemos tocado hasta ahora, ¡la respuesta ha sido increíble! Nuestras canciones son brutales, pero con un montón de riffs pegadizos, ¡es fácil para alguien que nunca escucha nuestras canciones seguir el ritmo en vivo y meterse en el pozo!
10 ¿Qué artistas invito en este trabajo musical de NECROTICGOREBEAST?
Estamos muy contentos de tener características en nuestro álbum de Diogo Santana (ANALEPSY), Jack Christensen (KRAANIUM) y Alex-Antoine Chamberland (SOILED BY BLOOD). Sabíamos desde el principio que queríamos características increíbles en nuestro álbum y estos chicos eran nuestros principales objetivos. Cuando les preguntamos si estaban interesados en hacer una función y la respuesta fue un gran SÍ, ¡fue Navidad antes de tiempo para nosotros! Estos muchachos nos inspiran y no podemos agradecerles lo suficiente por su tiempo y disponibilidad.
11 ¿Cuéntanos sobre la escena de Canadá y de QUEBEC?
Somos muy afortunados de tener una increíble escena de metal en Canadá y especialmente aquí en Quebec. Tenemos muchas giras internacionales que nos visitan y también hemos sido afortunados por tantos años de haber sido pavimentados por increíbles bandas de metal de Quebec como GORGUTS, BENEATH THE MASSACRE, BEYOND CREATION, CRYPTOPSY, KATAKLYSM, DESPISED ICON y mucho más. También tenemos una escena local muy saludable con muchos grupos bien organizados trabajando juntos y brindando muchas oportunidades a las bandas locales para actuar en espectáculos más grandes.
