DIABOLIZER
One of the best bands in Turkey, I'm talking about DIABOLIZER, a band of a classic DEATH METAL in the best old school style, the first song of their production “KHALKEDONIAN DEATH” for the EVERLASTING SPEW RECORDS label, in the best style of Florida. , from Sweden, with that component of the Turkish scene, from the beginning “DAWN OF OBLITERATION”, of the 8 songs that remind me of the DEATH METAL scene in Sweden and Tampa Florida USA in the early 90's, we Some things answered his guitarist MUSTAFA GÛRCALIOGLU, we hope to have this piece of work on CD at home, for the moment enjoy this interview.
Una de las mejores bandas de Turquía, estoy hablando de DIABOLIZER, banda de un clásico DEATH METAL al mejor estilo de la vieja escuela, el primer tema de su producción “KHALKEDONIAN DEATH” para el sello EVERLASTING SPEW RECORDS, al mejor estilo de la florida, de Suecia, con ese componente de la escena de Turquía, desde el inicio “DAWN OF OBLITERATION”, de los 8 temas que me hacen recordar la escena del DEATH METAL de Suecia y de Tampa Florida USA en los inicios de los 90, nos responden algunas cosas su guitarrista MUSTAFA GÛRCALIOGLU, esperamos tener esta pieza de obra en CD en la casa,.
A brutal greeting from Colombia South America, my name is Ricardo Bedoya editor of SCUMZINE MAGAZINE WEB, how is everything going in the band?
Mustafa: Greetings from Istanbul, Turkey, Ricardo. Everything is fine at the moment. Our first album "Khalkedonian Death" has been released; we are currently busy with promoting and rehearsing for the live shows that have started again.
We begin this interview with a biography of the band, How was DIABOLIZER formed? Where did the name come from? And how do they observe pandemics?
Mustafa: Even though the idea of Diabolizer is a bit older, the band was formed in 2012. The band's name was suggested but our vocalist, Abomination. From the first moment I heard the name, I believed it matched perfectly with the structure of this band and we had absolutely no choice but to use it, haha. The pandemic was a little annoying, the release of the album was delayed a bit but now everything seems to be getting better, I hope we are not wrong.

Tell us about the 2012 Single, what was the response from the extreme metal fans? And tell us about "Apokalypse"? How was it received by the extreme press?
Mustafa: As soon as the band came together, we started working on our first recording. The songs were things I had written before the band was even formed. It was released in a limited number of physical copies and digitally released. The responses were pretty good. It was a short but a solid product that revealed the path we wanted to pursue. Afterwards we continued to worked on "Apokalypse". It was released exactly one year after its recording session, as you know, it also includes the first single as a bonus. The reactions to both releases have been very good so far. They helped spread our name on to the international scene.
“KHALKEDON IAN DEATH” is the first album with the Italian label EVERLASTING SPEW RECORDS, can you tell us about this work? And how was the recording, production and mixing process?
Mustafa: We contacted Everlasting Spew Productions after completing the recording of the album and we established a very good dialogue with them. This actually happened through Me Saco Un Ojo Records, whom we already were going to work with for the vinyl version. They mentioned Everlasting Spew was interested in the issue of the CD format, we were satisfied with our mutual communication and with the offer that we've decided to work with them. We are very satisfied with the work they have put out so far. As for the making of the album, after the release of Apokalypse, we continued to work without slowing down for our first full length. I gradually turned the accumulated materials into songs and we all started rehearsing them together. Even though the recording process took a while due to the busy schedule of our other bands and the pandemic, we managed to achieve the result as we wanted. We worked with our friend Ozan Yıldırım from Deadhouse Studios for the mix mastering process. We are very satisfied with the final work.

What is the meaning of the album title ““ KHALKEDONIAN DEATH ”?
Mustafa: Khalkedon is the historical name of Kadıköy. We wanted to reflect the spirit of our home town, which has put out some very sick bands, hosted many quality concerts, and has become an important spot for the local metal scene. It is our praise and salute to the streets we have come from, grown up, the town that made us who we are in the past twenty years.
How was the composition process for DIABOLIZER? How much time did you spend writing and recording the album? What is the theme of the CD? And what about the recording experience?
Mustafa: I compose all the songs for Diabolizer. Abomination writes all the lyrics. When I get ideas in my head for Diabolizer, I save them on the side. These can be single riff or short segments. When I feel it is the right time, they become full songs. Then I share these works with other members and we start rehearsing in the studio. Because it was at long intervals the writing of "Khalkedonian Death" took 4 years in total. Recording of the guitars, drums, vocals were all done at long intervals. It was a routine recording experience, nothing unusual happened. Everything worked out alright, although it was a long process, we are happy with the result.

Tell us about the demon that appears on the cover of “KHALKEDONIAN DEATH”, who is the author of the Cover art? And is he influenced by the literature of H.P. LOVECRAFT?
Mustafa: Frankly, we have nothing to do with Lovecraft. We are aware that the figure on the cover looks similar to Cthulu, but we wanted a very evil creature with no eyes for the cover, based on the Byzantine nickname of the Khalkedonian, "City of the Blind". The result really satisfied us. The cover concept was ours and the artwork was done by Jon Zig.
What is a DIABOLIZER concert like? Tell us about the band's shows? With which bands have you shared the stage? And what has been the best show?
Mustafa: Diabolizer shows are rituals where the front of the stage is quite dangerous, it is a strong experience. So far, we have played very dynamic and memorable shows. The bands we played with would make an unnecessarily long list, so i can just say we played very enjoyable shows with many high quality local and international bands. We played our first show post pandemic 2 weeks ago. It was an open-air concert and after a period where people starved, it has already become one of our best shows.

Tell us about the distribution of the work "KHALKEDON IAN DEATH" in the formats of CD, Cassette, Vinyl. How do you see these formats of the band? And what is your opinion?
Mustafa: "Khalkedonian Death" is currently being distributed all over the world by Everlasting Spew Records as CD, Me saco Un ojo Records as Vinyl and on tape by Desiccated Productions, the company of our bassist Malik. There is a great interest in all of the formats and the labels we work with are among the best in printing and distributing these formats today. We are very pleased with our collaboration with them.
Tell us about the scene from DEATH METAL, BRUTAL DETAH METAL Turkey?
Mustafa: is a very high quality Death Metal scene in Turkey that has been gradually growing since the first half of the 2000s. Of course, there were a few good bands before then, but frankly, they weren't productions that would gain the interest of international scene, except for a few. There are great bands currently, some active ones from the old generation and some from the new generation. People demand for their products, they go to their live shows and support them, they make deals with labels from abroad and they are invited to international events. There is a stage growing more and more in terms of audience as well. There is increasing demand for live shows and releases.

Mustafa: Pandemic to waning and ending is our biggest expectation for now, so we can take part in concerts and play our music live for the audiences.

Un saludo Brutal desde Colombia Sur América, mi nombre es Ricardo Bedoya editor de SCUMZINE MAGAZINE WEB, ¿Cómo va todo en la banda?
Mustafa: Saludos desde Estambul, Turquía, Ricardo. Todo está bien por el momento. Nuestro primer álbum "Khalkedonian Death" ha sido lanzado; Actualmente estamos ocupados promocionando y ensayando los shows en vivo que han comenzado de nuevo.
Comenzamos esta entrevista con una biografía de la banda, ¿Cómo se formó DIABOLIZER?, ¿de dónde salió el nombre? Y ¿Cómo observan las pandemias?
Mustafa: Aunque la idea de Diabolizer es un poco más antigua, la banda se formó en 2012. Se sugirió el nombre de la banda, pero nuestro vocalista, Abomination. Dèsde el primer momento en que escuché el nombre, creí que encajaba perfectamente con la estructura de esta banda y no tuvimos absolutamente más remedio que usarlo, jaja. La pandemia fue un poco molesta, el lanzamiento del disco se retrasó un poco ¿pero?, ahora todo parece estar mejorando, espero que no nos equivoquemos.

Háblanos del Single 2012, ¿cuál fue la respuesta de los fans del extremo metal? Y ¿Háblanos de “Apokalypse”?, ¿cómo fue recibido por la prensa extrema?
Mustafa: Tan pronto como la banda se unió, comenzamos a trabajar en nuestra primera grabación. Las canciones eran cosas que había escrito antes de que se formara la banda. Fue lanzado en un número limitado de copias físicas y lanzado digitalmente. Las respuestas fueron bastante buenas. Fue un producto breve ¿pero?, sólido que reveló el camino que queríamos seguir. Posteriormente continuamos trabajando en "Apokalypse". Fue lanzado exactamente un año después de su sesión de grabación, como sabéis, también incluye el primer single como bonus. Las reacciones a ambos lanzamientos han sido muy buenas hasta ahora. Ayudaron a difundir nuestro nombre en la escena internacional.
“KHALKEDONIAN DEATH” es el primer álbum con el sello Italiano EVERLASTING SPEW RECORDS, ¿Háblanos de este trabajos? Y ¿Cómo fue el proceso de grabación, producción y mezcla?
Mustafa: Contactamos con Everlasting Spew Productions después de completar la grabación del álbum y establecimos un muy buen diálogo con ellos. De hecho, esto pasó a través de Me Saco Un Ojo Records, con quien ya íbamos a trabajar para la versión en vinilo. Mencionaron que Everlasting Spew estaba interesado en el tema del formato de CD, quedamos satisfechos con nuestra comunicación mutua y con la oferta de que hemos decidido trabajar con ellos. Estamos muy satisfechos con el trabajo que han realizado hasta ahora. En cuanto a la realización del álbum, después del lanzamiento de Apokalypse, continuamos trabajando sin ralentizar nuestro primer largo. Poco a poco convertí los materiales acumulados en canciones y todos comenzamos a ensayarlos juntos. Aunque el proceso de grabación tomó un tiempo debido a la apretada agenda de nuestras otras bandas y la pandemia, logramos lograr el resultado que queríamos. Trabajamos con nuestro amigo Ozan Yıldırım de Deadhouse Studios para el proceso de masterización de la mezcla. Estamos muy satisfechos con el trabajo final.
¿Cuál es el significado que tiene el título del álbum ““KHALKEDONIAN DEATH”?
Mustafa: Khalkedon es el nombre histórico de Kadıköy. Queríamos reflejar el espíritu de nuestra ciudad natal, que ha sacado a bandas muy enfermas, ha organizado muchos conciertos de calidad y se ha convertido en un lugar importante para la escena del metal local. Es nuestro elogio y saludo a las calles de las que venimos, crecimos, la ciudad que nos hizo quienes somos en los últimos veinte años.
¿Cómo fue el proceso de composición de DIABOLIZER?, ¿Cuánto tiempo pasaste escribiendo y grabando el álbum?, ¿Cuál es la temática del CD? Y ¿Qué hay de la experiencia de grabación?
Mustafa: Yo compongo todas las canciones para Diabolizer. Abomination escribe todas las letras. Cuando se me ocurren ideas para Diabolizer, las guardo a un lado. Estos pueden ser un solo riff o segmentos cortos. Cuando siento que es el momento adecuado, se convierten en canciones llenas. Luego comparto estos trabajos con otros miembros y comenzamos a ensayar en el estudio. Debido a que fue a intervalos prolongados, la escritura de "La muerte de Khalkedonian" tomó 4 años en total. La grabación de las guitarras, la batería y las voces se realizaron a intervalos prolongados. Fue una experiencia de grabación de rutina, no sucedió nada inusual. Todo salió bien, aunque fue un proceso largo, estamos contentos con el resultado.

Háblanos de cómo va la distribución del trabajo “KHALKEDONIAN DEATH” en los formatos de CD, Cassette, Vinilo, ¿Cómo observas estos formatos de la banda? Y ¿Cuál es tu opinión?
Mustafa: "Khalkedonian Death" está siendo distribuido en todo el mundo por Everlasting Spew Records como CD, Me saco Un ojo Records como vinilo y en cinta por Desiccated Productions, la compañía de nuestro bajista Malik. Hay un gran interés en todos los formatos y las etiquetas con las que trabajamos se encuentran entre las mejores en la impresión y distribución de estos formatos en la actualidad. Estamos muy contentos de nuestra colaboración con ellos.

Háblanos del demonio que aparece en la portada de “KHALKEDONIAN DEATH”, ¿Quién es el autor del Cover art? y ¿está influenciado por la literatura de H.P. LOVECRAFT?
Mustafa: Francamente, no tenemos nada que ver con Lovecraft. Somos conscientes de que la figura de la portada se parece a Cthulu, pero queríamos una criatura muy malvada sin ojos para la portada, basada en el apodo bizantino del khalkedoniano, "Ciudad de los ciegos". El resultado realmente nos satisfizo. El concepto de la portada fue nuestro y la obra de arte fue realizada por Jon Zig.
Háblenos de la escena de DEATH METAL, BRUTAL DEATH METAL Turquía.
Mustafa: es una escena de Death Metal de muy alta calidad en Turquía que ha ido creciendo gradualmente desde la primera mitad de la década de 2000. Por supuesto, había algunas buenas bandas antes, pero francamente, no eran producciones que ganaran el interés de la escena internacional, excepto algunas. Actualmente hay grandes bandas, algunas activas de la vieja generación y algunas de la nueva generación. Las personas demandan por sus productos, van a sus shows en vivo y los apoyan, hacen tratos con sellos del exterior y son invitados a eventos internacionales. También hay un escenario que crece cada vez más en cuanto a audiencia. Existe una creciente demanda de presentaciones en vivo y lanzamientos.

Pandemia hasta menguante y final es nuestra mayor expectativa por ahora, por lo que podemos participar en conciertos y tocar nuestra música en vivo para el público.
