1 Tell us about "TEMPUS EDAX RERUMS" Tell us about the process of recording and mixing the MCD ?, What was it like working with GERARD PORQUERES and ADRIAN'S BEDROOM?

​

It was a long process, I had those songs written almost 5 years ago, I was 15 at the time, so i’m a little surprised i don’t cringe at the sight of that EP! Gerard was awesome to work with, i believe he gave us the perfect raw sound that we were going for. Adrian’s Bedroom? Well, that’s my bedroom so it was a breezy, painless process for sure haha!

 

2 How to make the composition in INVOLUNTARY CONVULSION ?, Why the subjects in Latin? And what are the lyrics of "TEMPUS EDAX RERUMS"?

​

The Latin use felt necessary considering the lyrical theme dating back a few centuries. Zach has always had a fascination with the language and wanted to incorporate it.

There are too many lyrics to post in this interview, but I'm sure we can digitally upload them on our bandcamp, unless you own a physical copy of our EP, you can check them out in the booklet.

   

3 How was the band born? And why the name INVOLUNTARY CONVULSION?

​

The band started as a side project of another band which never left the ground actually, this was in early 2012. We thought ‘Involuntary Convulsion’ made sense and reflected the material we were writing well.

 

4 How are things NEW STANDARD ELITE with distribution? And how long to get the NEW STANDARD ELITE? And what are the expectations of the band for all the work?

​

Dan does an awesome job with New Standard Elite, full credit to the dude, working entirely on his own. He sends stuff all over the world to distributors that sell brutal cds and merch, cant complain really.

 

5 What is the meaning of the title "TEMPUS EDAX RERUMS"?

“Time devours all things”

 

6 Who are the main composers of INVOLUNTARY CONVULSION?

We all do our part that’s for sure. Adrian comes up with the full basis of a song using a drum machine and recording riffs along to it, tabs it out, then sends it to Mark which he then writes his own bass lines. Alex gets an idea of what the drums should sound like with the drum machine, and adds his own flare. Zach writes all of the lyrics. 

 

 7 Tell us about "DISAMBIGUATION", have you received the acceptance you expected?

​

We didn’t expect much. We’re happy with how it came out, and everyone seems to be enjoying it, so we’re stoked about all that!

 

8 What is the meaning of the "TEMPUS EDAX RERUMS" cover? And How is the idea of working with KIRILL SEMENOV born?

​

I came across some of Kirill’s previous works a few years ago and instantly fell in love with his art. We thought he’d be a great candidate for visually representing Involuntary Convulsion.

 

 9 Tell us about "MARK CHANDLER", what can you tell us?

​

That he is an absolute legend of a person and a very talented bass player, in it for exactly the right reasons.

 

10 How are the concerts of INVOLUNTARY CONVULSION ?, any special trip and how is the scene of Melbourne, Victoria?

​

We haven’t played a show in a long time, due to our lineup constraints, Alex lives in New York and Mark lives in Ontario, so it has been more of a studio project for quite some time. The scene in Australia rules, plenty of good brutal bands around like Disentomb, Seminal Embalmment, Putrescent Seepage, Odiusembowel etc, dont even get me start on the grind too!

 

  

11 Future plans and final comment?

​

We are currently writing for our first debut album, we’ll hopefully see an early/mid 2018 release. We’d love to tour some time in the future too.

1  Háblanos de “TEMPUS EDAX RERUMS” ¿Cuéntanos sobre el proceso de grabación y mezcla del MCD?, ¿Cómo fue trabajar con GERARD PORQUERES y ADRIAN´S BEDROOM?

 

  Fue un proceso largo, tuve esas canciones escritas hace casi 5 años, yo tenía 15 años en ese momento, así que estoy un poco sorprendido de que no me encogen al ver ese EP!GERARD era increíble trabajar con él, creo que nos dio el sonido crudo, perfecto que íbamos a trabajar. ¿El dormitorio de ADRIAN? Bueno, ese es mi dormitorio por lo que fue un proceso ventajoso, sin dolor, seguro, ja,ja,ja,ja.

 

 

2  ¿Cómo realizo la composición en INVOLUNTARY CONVULSION?,  ¿Por qué los temas en latín? Y ¿de qué hablan las letras de “TEMPUS EDAX RERUMS”?

 

El uso latino se sintió necesario teniendo en cuenta el tema lírico que se remonta a unos cuantos siglos. Zach siempre ha tenido una fascinación con el lenguaje y quería incorporarlo.

Hay demasiadas letras para publicar en esta entrevista, pero estoy seguro de que podemos subirlas digitalmente en nuestro bandcamp, a menos que poseas una copia física de nuestro EP, puedes comprobarlas en el folleto.

 

 3 ¿Cómo nació la banda? Y ¿Por qué el nombre INVOLUNTARY CONVULSION?

​

 La banda comenzó como un proyecto paralelo de otra banda que nunca dejó el suelo en realidad, esto fue a principios de 2012. Pensamos que 'Involuntary Convulsion' tenía sentido y reflejaba el material que estábamos escribiendo bien.

 

4 ¿Cómo van las cosas NEW STANDARD ELITE con la distribución? Y ¿Cuáles son las expectativas de la banda por todo el trabajo?

 

Dan hace un trabajo impresionante con New Standard Elite, el crédito completo para el tipo, que trabaja por su cuenta. Envía cosas por todo el mundo a distribuidores que venden cds brutales y merch, no puedo quejarme realmente.

 

 

5 ¿Cuál es el significado que tiene el título ““TEMPUS EDAX RERUMS”?

 

"El tiempo devora todas las cosas"

 

6 ¿Quiénes son los principales compositores de INVOLUNTARY CONVULSION?

 

Todos hacemos nuestra parte, eso es seguro. Adrian viene con la base completa de una canción usando una máquina de ritmos y riffs de grabación a lo largo de la misma, nos permite entender riffs hacia afuera, y luego lo envía a Mark, que luego escribe sus propias líneas de bajo. Alex tiene una idea de lo que los tambores debe sonar con la caja de ritmos, y añade su propia llamarada. Zach escribe todas las letras.

 

7 Háblanos de “DISAMBIGUATION”, ¿ha recibido la aceptación que esperaba?

 

No esperábamos mucho. Estamos contentos con lo que salió, y todo el mundo parece estar disfrutando, así que estamos muy contentos con todo eso!

 

 

8 Que significado tiene la portada de “TEMPUS EDAX RERUMS”? y ¿Cómo se nace la idea de trabajar con KIRILL SEMENOV?

 

 Me encontré con algunos de los trabajos anteriores de Kirill hace unos años y al instante se enamoró de su arte. Pensamos que sería un gran candidato para representar visualmente INVOLUNTARY CONVULSION.

 

9 Háblanos de “MARK CHANDLER”, ¿Qué nos puedes decir?

​

Que él es una leyenda absoluta de una persona y un bajista muy talentoso, en él por exactamente las razones correctas.

 

10 ¿Cómo son los conciertos de INVOLUNTARY CONVULSION?, algún viaje en especial y ¿Cómo es la escena de Melbourne, Victoria?

 

No hemos jugado un show en mucho tiempo, debido a nuestras restricciones de alineación, Alex vive en Nueva York y Mark vive en Ontario, por lo que ha sido más de un proyecto de estudio desde hace bastante tiempo. La escena en Australia es brutal por naturaleza, un montón de buenas bandas brutales alrededor como DISENTOMB, SEMINAL EMBALMMENT, PUTRESCENT SEEPAGE, ODIUSEMBOWEL ETC, ni siquiera me haga empezar hablar de GRIND, también!

 

  

11 Planes futuros y ¿comentario final?

 

Actualmente estamos escribiendo para nuestro primer álbum de debut, esperamos ver un lanzamiento de principios / mediados de 2018. Nos encantaría recorrer algún tiempo en el futuro también (un tour).
